A founder note on ambition, constraint, customer proximity, and the strange advantage of building from a place that forces clarity.
Founder Notes
Building from Nairobi gives you both energy and resistance. The energy comes from proximity to real problems, talented people, and a market that rewards practical usefulness. The resistance comes from capital gaps, procurement delays, infrastructure inconsistencies, and the need to earn trust one conversation at a time.
The honest note is that constraint can sharpen you, but it can also exhaust you. Founders need to learn the difference between discipline and unnecessary suffering.
When resources are limited, vague products do not survive for long. You have to know who you serve, what pain you remove, and why someone should pay now instead of later.
If this connects with something you are building or funding, I would be glad to hear about it.
