The problem is so deep that it has reached the people whose actual business is supposed to be funding this risk. Many investors now want a de-risked startup, which is almost an oxymoron. They want the certainty before they fund the process that creates the certainty. It is why I have increasingly come to believe that some “startup investors” are actually post-startup investors. They want the founder to finish doing the startup work, then arrive when the company finally looks like something they already understand. You cannot demand venture returns without venture risk!
